The Spark

Back in late 2023, I just started college, and I was looking for ways to be more productive. I dived into morning routines, self-help books, YouTube videos on maximizing productivity, the perfect morning routine—I'm sure you're all familiar with the self-improvement world.

Eventually, I discovered Notion. Turns out, you can build just about anything you want in Notion, and it really scratched an itch in me as I loved building things.

I got to building my own Notion templates for fun. I started off with my own student dashboards (which was really well done, if I may say so myself), habit trackers, Hogwarts-themed life dashboards, and a bunch of other stuff.

At the time, I was doing my annual rewatch of my favorite series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Uncle Iroh's lesson to Zuko stuck with me…

"It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale. Understanding others, the other elements, and the other nations will help you become whole."

— Uncle Iroh

This philosophy gave me a revelation. Even in real life, we are constantly bending elements. Not literally of course, but the primary elements of our lives. The areas: body, mind, spirit, and so on.

I built a Notion template around that idea, first called Ascend OS (which eventually became Gamified Life OS), an Avatar-themed life dashboard, and shared it with the community. People loved it. Not for the Avatar connection (as I had hoped…), but for the framework underneath it.

The Idea

I launched my Notion template store, Kevechino (my name (Kev) + cappuccino, after my great love for coffee).

The flagship, Gamified Life OS, turned that early Ascend OS prototype into a full system inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender: life areas, habit tracking, goals, all using gamification mechanics, which I found pretty cool.

Within six months of building seriously, I became a Certified Notion Expert and an official Recommended Creator, with five of my templates, including Gamified Life OS, becoming official Notion Featured templates.

What Changed

Unfortunately, due to tragic events in my personal life, I hit burnout really hard.

I didn't care about anymore about status, money, cars (okay, a free lambo is fine, right?), the perfect routine, the amount of books I read.

I realized what really mattered to me: living life. Time with family and friends. Building things. Exploring and having adventures. Those things I would die for.

The implication this had on Kevechino was profound. I no longer wanted to advocate for typical productivity norms. Rather, I wanted people to pursue things they really cared about, using tools built for that purpose.

Today.

Since then, Kevechino has grown from a simple Notion template store to a full digital studio that builds digital resources for people to build a meaningful life for themselves.

To that end, Kevechino continues to be a venture I am proud of.
